Thankfully, yesterday’s efforts in Cork redeemed me a little bit after getting off to a very shoddy start on Friday night. The performances of TEXARD and MOROSINI justified expectations while the hunch about Adrian Heskin being over for one ride proved to be right as Gordon Elliott’s charge ran out a comfortable winner.
Elliott again takes centre stage today at the Kildare venue when his ENVOI ALLEN – potentially the most exciting National Hunt horse anywhere – puts his unbeaten record on the line in the Lawlor’s Hotel Novice Hurdle (Grade 1).
In a field stacked with quality, it’s indicative of what’s thought of the Cheevley Park Stud owned gelding that with him prohibitively chalked up at 1/3 while the next in the betting, ELIXIR D’AINAY trained by Willie Mullins is floating between 6/1 and 7/1.
