As I sit looking out the window, it’s fairly obvious that, unfortunately, due to ground conditions yours truly is going to be a non runner at my racing home!
Those who do brave the elements, however, should be be treated to some very decent fare with the Dan and Joan Moore Memorial Chase. This contest has long been a trial ground for the Irish Grand National and this year’s renewal promises to be no different. Now, the Gordon Elliott trained DUCA DE THAIX is an inconsistent performer at best, but, he has shown a liking for the Ratoath venue previously – including taking this very race last term – and it would be no surprise to see him outrun his current odds of 12/1.

Elsewhere on the card, for the second day in a row, I’m very interested in a Willie Mullins runner in a Novice Chase. While inclinations towards Max Dynamite yesterday were ill-founded, I wouldn’t discount the 10-year-old over the bigger obstacles just yet. Not unusually these days, the Closutton handler runs two contenders here.
And, while Voix Des Tiep would be entitled to have greater claims, a keen eye will be kept on ANNAMIX. The grey arrived with a very tall reputation a couple of years ago, and, no, the whispers weren’t lived up to over hurdles, it’s not unusual to see a steed improve for going chasing.
