Jones listed on bench for Royals

Ronan Jones is a surprise addition to the Meath substitutes bench for tomorrow’s NFL Div. 2 encounter with Down at Pairc Tailteann. The St Peter’s, Dunboyne clubman has been plagued by a succession of shoulder, arm and ankle injuries for some time now which greatly curtailed his contribution to his club’s run to the Meath SFC Final last year.

This writer will admit to being as surprised as anybody to see the midfielder included in the match day panel, but his availability would be a major boost as the home side go in search of their first win in this year’s Allianz Leagues. Their opponents will be aiming to do likewise having been heavily defeated by both Derry and Galway.

Ronan Jones is included in the Meath panel

Meath have, in effect, named the same starting line up as as was listed in the match programme for the Roscommon game. Though considering there were five changes prior to the throw in the last day it remains to be seen what formation actually takes the field.

Meath – Harry Hogan; Robin Clarke, Ronan Ryan, Eoin Harkin; Cathal Hickey, Shane McEntee, Donal Keogan; Padraic Harnan, Ethan Devine; Cillian O’Sullivan, Bryan McMahon, Mathew Costello; James Conlon, Shane Walsh, Joey Wallace.

Subs Andy Colgan, Gavin McGowan, Jordan Morris, Niall Kane, Jordan Muldoon, Ronan Jones, Saran O Fionnagain, Eamon Wallace, Thomas O’Reilly, Jason Scully, Jack O’Connor.
