All Ireland football champions Dublin will welcome Monaghan to Croke Park (presumably) in the opening round of the NFL, it was revealed this evening as some details of the fixtures in the perceived secondary competition were released on Friday afternoon.
The Farney Army have caused the all conquering Dubs more problems than most over the years and, if it was a thing that Conor McManus was still available to Vinny Corey et al, they certainly wouldn’t fear them.
Elsewhere over the same weekend, last year’s defeated Sam Maguire Cup finalists Kerry will entertain their old foe Mickey Harte and his Derry charges in Killarney, before he then faces into a reunion with his native county. Defending Div. 1 champions Mayo will open their title defence against Galway.

Switching to Div. 2, naturally from a Meath perspective, it has to be welcomed that Colm and the lads will begin their campaign with a home outing against Fermanagh. It’s also must be noted that – with re-development work ongoing at St Conleth’s Park, Kildare will play their ‘home’ matches in Croke Park. Beginning on the opening weekend when they take on Cavan.

In the hurling league, all-conquering Limerick will begin their quest for even more glory against Antrim, with Cork taking on Clare, Kilkenny and Wexford slug it out one more time and Dublin host Tipperary in Croke Park.

Counties were given detailed breakdowns of their entire league fixtures on Friday. We will provide more detailed fixture listings when they come to hand.
