Dyche’s men plunged into a ditch

Everton’s season – and potentially their Premier League future – has been tossed into turmoil by the revelation that the Toffees have been deducted 10 league points.

The stunning development comes on foot an investigation having found the Goodison Park Club to be in breach of financial regulations. What’s bound to anger blues boss Sean Dyche and others at the club is that the reprimand has nothing to do with the football side of the club. Instead stemming from overspending on their stadium development plans.

The bombshell sanction comes at a particularly cruel time for Dyche’s side as they had just ran into a bit of form which coincided with the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin from injury..

Ironically, the last team to escape the drop having the same points as Everton find themselves currently were… Everton, in the 1994/’95 campaign!

It’s surely certain that the blue half of Liverpool will appeal the severity of the penalties imposed.
