Paul Clinch cutting Spring Barley for Sean Quinn in Kilbride, Co Meath, with a 1965-registered Fahr 1100 combine.
Grain being drawn to Ward Feeds,Nutstown, with a classic John Deere (2650, I think) and Ruscon trailer.
With the cutter bar taking eight foot swathes at a time, cutting the 19 acres takes a day and a half to two days. Yes your Claas Lexions or New Hollands or John Deeres would have it levelled in no time, all the saved time in the world can’t compare to the comforting growl of the old diesel beast.
Sincere thanks to Paul and his wife Mary for sending on the footage.
