Tommy Smyth Snr – R.I.P.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Eileen, Ed, Tommy, girls and the extended Smyth family of Bennettstown, Batterstown and beyond. It is with deep sadness I learn of Tommy Snr’s passing. A quiet, softly spoken gentleman, the last remaining pillar of one of Meath’s great sporting dynasties.

Tommy (Jnr) and Darragh Smyth were part of the Dunboyne ensemble which won the Meath SFC in 1998.

His passing marks the end of an era. But the legacy woven by Tommy and his siblings gone before him lives on in the deeds of those who came behind them. Never more so than when Tommy Jnr and his cousin Darragh were part of the Dunboyne team which won the Meath SFC for the first time in 1998 while various other nephews and relatives lined out with the old Batterstown GAA Club and later Blackhall Gaels and it will do so forever more in the generations who follow on. May he Rest In Peace.
