Having been an absentee for the defeat to Westmeath in Mullingar a fortnight ago, Tom Shine will be a welcome sight on the horizon for Johnny Greville et al as will the home comforts of St Loman’s Park in Trim as Meath aim to get their NHL Div. 2 campaign back on track against Derry on Sunday.
Shine’s return sees emerging talent Noah Conroy revert to wing back with Cathal Barron of Dunderry reverting to the bench where he was originally named for the Lake County encounter.

Aside from the fact that a number those who were erstwhile mainstays of the Meath hurling team are again notably absent, the other disappointment is to see three county teams – men’s and ladies footballers and senior hurlers – playing at basically the same time at three different venues.
With the exception of players’ families, how is that remotely fair to supporters who like to get behind all our teams. Or, indeed, the media who strive to give equally merited coverage to all? Surely with a bit of joined up thinking, the GAA and LGFA between them could have come up with something a little more plausible. Surely something is worth trying?
