Good start not enough

St Peter’s,  Dunboyne… 2-13

Nobber… 5-10

For the second Div. 4 FL outing on the spin, Dunboyne’s second string had to give best to a north county outfit’s top team. This time returning from a road trip to Nobber empty handed.

Despite Cathal Melia’s early ‘major’, the visitors were unable to establish a foothold on matters as the resident black and ambers registered three green flag scores of their own. Thus leaving themselves clear by 3-06 to 1-05 as the sides changed ends.

Jack Cox scored a point on his return for Dunboyne but it wasn’t enough in Nobber.

Dunboyne ran their bench at the break and despite this bringing about a notable improvement in terms of overall performance, the home side’s ability to sniff out and convert goal chances saw them hold on with two of them to spare.
