It only takes a minute lads!
MEATH…2-17 CAVAN…1-18 My obsession with and love for farming and machinery, particularly classic or vintage or classic iterations thereof, is something which I hope is still in me even when the pulse is gone. That said, February 1st in a darkening Breffni Park might seem a curious time to be musing on such things, but…

‘Banty’ back in for trip to Breffni
It’s a case of ‘I finished so I’ll start’ with regard to the Meath team announced for tomorrow’s National Football League Round 2 joust with Cavan at Breffni Park. Having been his usual inspiring influence when introduced against Derry, James ‘Banty’ Conlon will start on the edge of the square as Robbie Brennan’s side aim…

Meath Club Hurling Championship Draws 2026
Before going a yard further, I must first apologise for not having the below hurling draws up at the same time as their football brethern. The simple and honest explanation is that fuel reserves with the occupant of this seat were flagging between team news for and match reports on weekend events in National League…

The only way is up
MEATH…0-08 GALWAY….0-16 It is symbolic of a team’s current status and ambitions when one hears open mention of the fact that top flight survival will suffice as far as priorities for a National League campaign. Of course there’s always the possibility that such a non-fussed approach could come back and bite you in such a…

Meath Shine brightest on murky day to exile their opponents
MEATH…1-20 LONDON…1-10 There was something ironically apt about the Shine twins, Daire and Tom, being to the fore as Meath defied the murky conditions in Trim to open their National Hurling League campaign off to an impressive start against the Exiles. In so doing, Johnny Greville’s side put to bed the memory of last year’s…

The Mighty Flynn gets Meath off to a flyer
MEATH…0-19 DERRY…1-13 Little fish are sweet. A bit of history being made into the bargain never hurts either. The latter being applicable on two fronts. Firstly, on a personal level, as it was the first time yours truly was at a match (that finished) under the bulbs in GAA HQ. And secondly, in the first…

Emma Duggan will Captain the Meath seniors for the first time when Wayne Freeman’s tenure begins when the Royal County ladies take on familiar foes Galway in the first round of the Lidl Ladies National League at Summerhill on Sunday afternoon. Five NHL Newcomers For Afternoon With The Exiles
Manager Johnny Greville has handed out five National Hurling League debuts among the Meath ensemble revealed for Saturday’s afternoon tea (12.30pm) appointment with London in St Loman’s Park, Trim. The handful of newcomers are Gavin King in goal, brothers Conor Leavy and Mark Leavy, Darragh Heffernan and Eoin Donegan. All of whom took their chances…

Meath go with strongest team available
If National League team announcements are worth the paper or screens they are written on, Meath have gone with the strongest combination available to them for Saturday’s National League opener against Derry in Croke Park. That means, despite missing Summerhill’s Leinster Club SFC encounter with Athy nearly three months ago, Eoghan Frayne captains the side…

Positivity there if you want to see it
MEATH… 3-06 WICKLOW… 0-16 Matches at this time of year, and particularly hurling ones, should be legally obliged to come with a disclaimer. Accompanied by the familiar skull and cross bones label. Under no circumstances are patrons or participants to indulge in serious analysis of what transpires beyond this point. As a reference point, consider…
