Athboy man Jamie McGrath is in big demand during the current transfer window. The midfielder began his professional career overseas with St Mirren having caught the eye of talent scouts with St Patrick’s Athletic and Dundalk.
However, what appeared to be a ‘done deal’ move to Aberdeen fell through after the player – who became the second Meath man to be capped for the Republic of Ireland – collapsed after the player decided to take more time to assess his options.

The 25-year-old, who was the Paisley outfit’s Player Of The Year last term, has been the subject of interest from both Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic. It is believed bids in the region of £350,000 have been tabled. St Mirren boss, Waterford’s Jim Goodwin, has conceded that it seems “Inevitable” he will lose his top player, but to whom remains unclear as both the player and his current employers seem certain to drive a hard bargain.
