In last night’s other fixture at wet and windy Dunganny, the Brian Farrell-managed An Tuaisceart – comprising players from Nobber, Meath Hill, Drumconrath, Kilmainhamwood, Syddan and Castletown – netted four times after half time to ease past the Darnley combination which represent the Clan Na nGael, Dunderry, Cortown and St Ultan’s clubs.
Only a point separated the sides at the interval, the men from the north of the county edging it by 0-06 to 0-05 at the change of ends. With Nobber’s Sean Meade and Stephen Coogan of Dunderry impressive for their respective teams.
However, those clad in red and black went goal crazy after half time with Meade, who ended up with an impressive 1-4 to his name, Gary Breslin, Gary Traynor and Breslin’s Meath Hill colleague Cormac Sheehy each filling the onion bag. All of which rendered Coogan’s seven point haul for the all whites completely in vain.
