I am absolutely stunned and devastated to have just learned of the passing of Maria Kealy. What an amazingly positive person. I truly cannot contemplate what her husband Micky Johnson, parents Pat, Ead and all of their family are going through, let alone how a Dunshaughlin team – managed by Maria’s brother Richie and including her nephew Adam – went out and played a match today.

What immense courage and fortitude to play at all, there will be another time to dissect where it went wrong against St Mogue’s but right now that doesn’t matter a toss.
A family has lost a loved one, a husband mourns his wife, a club and wider GAA community has been left without a shining light. No words seem sufficient, no explanation enough. May the strength and unity for which the Kealy family and GAA fraternity are renowned guide you through these darkest of days.

May Heaven be your bed Maria. They will honour you every time either a black and amber or green and gold jersey goes into battle.
