The Metropolitan Police in the UK announced on Tuesday night that an arrest had been made following the fracas at the end of Sunday’s North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Joseph Watts (35) of Hackney, London, was charged with “Assault by beating, going on to an area adjacent to a playing area and throwing a missile onto a football playing area”.
Watts is to appear befor Highbury Magistrates Court on February 17th. Always a firey encounter, a Hugo Lloris own-goal and a fine strike by Gunners’ skipper Martin Odegaard settled it as a contest before half time.
Victory put Mikel Arteta’s team eight points clear at the summit of the Premier League standings. But the game has been overshadowed by what ensued after the full time whistle.
Now, the Arsenal custodian is known for engaging in banter with the crowd. Banter is all it is and in 99.9% of ways everyone accepts that. However, it only takes one bad apple to contaminate an entire barrell.
Though there can be no excusing what the hideous idiot who ran down out of the stands did, it must be acknowledged that Spurs substitute Richarlison had been sh*t stirrer in chief all day.
It’s about all he’s done for Antonio Conte’s charges since arriving from Everton for £60m, apart from run up medical bills!
