Minogue majors get Meath back on track

Meath… 2-13

Westmeath… 1-06

Don’t let anybody tell you the day of the dual player is no more. Anybody who has been following the progress of Meath’s Aoife Minogue could disprove that theory in a heartbeat.

The talented Dunderry lady has been a breakthrough player on the Meath Ladies football team in recent months but today she underlined her value to Brendan Skehan’s Royal County camogie side with an outstanding display.

Her personal tally of 2-3 proving absolutely crucial as the home side got back on track in St Loman’s Park, having come up short last time out against Kerry.

Meath led by 2-07 to 0-02 at the break, with Minogue’s entire haul and four Grace Coleman points accounting for the lot.

Westmeath did improve to a degree after the break but with Killyon’s Coleman adding another triumvirate to her tally the result was never in doubt.

Killyon and Meath’s Grace Coleman

Scorers: A. Minogue (2-3), G. Coleman (0-7), O. O’Halloran, A. Donnelly, N. Daly (0-1 each)
