Meath LGFA will, at their meeting of September 11th, put forward the name of Kildare man Shane McCormack as the preferred candidate to be ratified to assume the position of county senior team manager. The former Kildare men’s custodian has plenty of managerial experience having most recently guided Armagh to a Lidl Ladies NFL Div. 2 title.

Personally, it’s with both surprise and disappointment that it’s learnt Jenny Rispin won’t be continuing in the role as the Summerhill lady had seemed to excel in the role during her two short spells therein.
Indeed,on that score, it’s a tad disappointing the appointment has come from outside the county. Especially given the reluctance to do so in relation to the men’s senior job when it absolutely would’ve been the right thing to do on at least two occasions since Sean Boylan stepped down in 2005.
However, the Board are to be commended for expediting the process in an efficient and timely manner with the club championships just gathering pace.
It is expected that – subject to ratification – the new manager will complete his backroom team in due course.
