New look Royals revealed for trip into the West

New Meath manager Shane McCormack has revealed his starting 15 for Sunday’s Lidl Ladies NFL opening round encounter against Mayo. Throw in at the Ballina Stephenites ground is slated for 2.00pm.

As revealed earlier this week, Monica McGuirk will captain the side from between the posts. Elsewhere, an experimental looking line up features former All Star full back Mary Kate Lynch stationed at centre back while Dunboyne’s Shelly Melia forms a new midfield combination with the vastly experienced Maire O’Shaughnessy.

Mary Kate Lynch moves out to No. 6 slot

Much has been made of the vast number of players Meath currently have to operate without but that presents an opportunity for others to stake their claim. Plus, with proven winners like Shauna Ennis and Emma Duggan listed among the subs, hopes will be high that they can at least start back in the direction of heights previously scaled.

MEATH – M. McGuirk; K. Newe, A. Sheridan, N. Troy; N. Gallogly, M. K. Lynch, A. Cleary; M. O’Shaughnessy, S. Melia; M. Thynne, E. Moyles, C. Smyth; M. Byrne, M. Farrelly, A. Leahy.
