The selection of Na Fianna’s Ethan Devine in the half back line is undoubtedly the most interesting development arising from the announcement of the Meath hurling team to play Kildare in tomorrow’s Kehoe Cup showdown at Manguard Park Hawkfield (Newbridge).
Ahead of the latest joust between the old rivals, the equation for Seoirse Bulfin’s men is simple – win by eight points or more to claim the title. Anything else will see the all whites retain the early season silverware.

Devine was one of several players needlessly jettisoned by Colm O’Rourke when he assumed control of the senior footballers, and, with the talented dual star having been alotted the No. 7 jersey it now means that Ethan and his sister Leah currently hold the last defencive spots on both the county senior camogie and hurling teams. Whether that has ever happened previously I’m not sure.
Elsewhere, clubmates Tom Shime and Seanie Geraghty form a new midfield combination while Tom’s brorther Daire leads the attack.
