McCormack makes one switch for battle with former charges

Meadhbh Byrne reclaims her spot in the Meath full forward line and that is the only change to the ensemble which defeated Waterford two weeks ago in Dungarvan as Royal County boss Shane McCormack prepares to take on his former charges in Ashbourne on Sunday.

Byrne, from county senior champions Dunshaughlin/Royal Gaels, netted three times in Meath’s first two NFL outings but missed the victory over Na Deise. As it happened, Ailbhe Leahy of Navan O’Mahonys, who replaced Byrne in the South East, herself rattled the net. Having won their opening triumvirates of outings, another win would leave them very well placed with regard to advancing to the NFL Final.

Conversely, however, the Orchard County are most likely to provide the most rigorous examination and, by extension, realistic appraisal of where Meath currently reside in the overall scheme of things.

MEATH – M. McGuirk (Capt.); K. Newe, A. Sheridan, N. Troy; N. Gallogly, M.K. Lynch, A. Cleary; M. O’Shaughnessy, S. Melia; M. Thynne, E. Moyles, C. Smyth; M. Byrne, M. Farrelly, E. Duggan.
