Robin Cunningham – A Personal Tribute

It is with complete shock, disbelief and a broken heart that I have just learned of the passing of Robin Cunningham. One of the kindest, most caring, patient, compassionate people I was ever blessed to meet.

A consummate professional in the most difficult line of business there is. Following the death of his dad Rory in 1999, his mother Nuala, Robin, his brothers Ian, Mick and Andrew and, indeed, their families in time carried on the tradition of service to people in their most trying of times.

But away from the day job, an avid sports fan, great racing man and just great fun to be around, whether that be following the quite extraordinary career journeys of Carlosantana and Youngnedofthehill, my gentle ribbing of him over the pomposity of rugby referees or similar light hearted banter about how he should really be a Meath supporter given the amount of business generated in these parts!

You’ve plenty of sports fanatics to keep you occupied above my friend, whether you fancy a round of golf with your dad or going with your uncle Ollie and my da in search of a bloodstock bargain, you are guaranteed a Premium Level seat in the sports stadium just over the horizon.

To Mrs Cunningham, his wife, his brothers, daughters and the large extended family, my deepest sympathy. Rest easy gentle giant, no TMO or Stewards Enquiry needed.
