Surprises aplenty as Meath reveal hand for trip to Tralee

There are bound to be more than a few raised eyebrows after manager Shane McCormack revealed his Meath Ladies selection for tomorrow’s (Saturday) All Ireland SFC quarter final against last term’s beaten finalists Kerry in Tralee. Throw in at Austin Stack Park is scheduled for 5.30pm on an epic sporting Saturday.

That the inclusion of Vikki Wall among the subs isn’t the most eye catching development therein is probably the most telling. In the one seeing eye of this observer, that has to be the relocation of Wall’s Dunboyne clubmate Shelly Melia to centre back. A move which sees the very promising Kerrie Cole take up duty on the ’40’.

Meath will hope that Marion Farrelly has the Midas touch again in front of goal

Other than that, the Royal County boss has stuck to the tried and trusted who have got them this far despite it being a season of much tumult for the two time winners of the Brendan Martin Cup.

MEATH – M. McGuirk; S. Wall, M.K. Lynch, N. Troy; N. Gallogly, S. Melia, K. Newe; M. O’Shaughnessy, A. Cleary; M. Thynne, K. Cole, C. Smyth; M. Byrne, M. Farrelly, E. Duggan.
