LOUGHCREW GAELS… 1-12
AN TUAISCEART… 0-12
It was a case of victories being like busses for home side Loughcrew as they made it two wins from two in the Regional Football Championship at Moynalty on Saturday night.
The eventual victors could thank a goal from the very talented Sean Reilly for their success. Having beaten holders Boyne Valley for the first time since the competition’s inception in Round 1, Davy Nelson’s charges club as were rapidly out of the blocks, with a point from Oldcastle’s Pearse Sheridan but it was the languid half forward’s goal right on the call of half time which eventually divided the sides.

The citog No. 10 blasting beyond Myles Avers gave him and his colleagues a 1-06 to 0-05 interval advantage. Harry Ryan of Ballinlough tacked on another to that total immediately on the restart but then the burgeoning Rian McConnell (Castletown) began to grow in influence.
Thus, though the lively CJ Healy, Reilly and Ryan – a brace apiece – put the Gaels clear by 1-10 to 0-06, An Tuaisceart then had a purple patch of their own, ironically against those in the jerseys of the same colour.
During which those in pursuance of the leaders rattled off four points on the spin of their own without riposte. Courtesy of McConnell, Niall Farrell, Jamie O’Neill and James McEntee (lining out to increase game time in the legs presumably).
Though on a night when the ‘Crew deservedly held sway, it was substitute Cormac Browne who had the final say when, after the ball was worked out to a scorable angle, sent over a fine clincher.
