Robbie Brennan will become the third consecutive Meath senior football manager to begin his tenure in the Allianz National Football League with an away fixture against Cork.
And, where Colm O’Rourke got his all too brief stewardship of the county’s football fortunes off to a great start with a 3-14 to 0-19 victory in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. In contrast, a 1-15 to 1-11 defeat at Pairc Tailteann basically put paid to the green and gold’s promotion aspirations.

Without confirmation of what exactly the Meath panel is at the time of typing, the following amounts to nothing more than speculation on my part, but, with a degree of turmoil seemingly engulfing John Cleary’s preparations, the visitors should be able to approach their voyage to ‘The Banks’ with a degree of quiet confidence.
Mind you, of more fundamental importance is winning their three home games – against Cavan, Roscommon and Monaghan – which cannot be overstated in terms of the basic prequisite of maintaining Div. 2 status before even contemplating looking the other way.
