Palace eye catchers left out

It was very much a case of as you were when the field for the forthcoming Premier League in darts was confirmed on Monday evening.

Defending Premier League Champion Luke Littler

Master of all he surveys, Luke Littler will attempt to defend one of the 11 PDC Tour titles he won last season, while those trying to relieve him of at least the League title will be:

Michael Van Gerwan

Gerwyn Price

Luke Humphries

Nathan Aspinall

Stephen Bunting

Chris Dobey

Rob Cross

While there couldn’t be any qualms about those who have been included, there may be a few eyebrows raised at those who didn’t make the cut. Particularly, as was quite forcibly pointed out online, the lack of any representation from Scotland.

As much as the following is difficult for one of his ‘Super Fans’ like myself to admit, Gary Anderson hasn’t done to merit a call up, but I would have thought that Peter Wright’s upturn in forn might have given him the nod.

Similar thoughts apply to another favourite of mine, ‘Rapid’ Ricky Evans but, regardless of what the list of declared runners might be, each of them will surely provide more than enough entertainment to keep these wheels turning enough to get yours truly through the end of winter and on into spring and summer.
