Tech. Uni. Dublin… 2-15
Uni. Of Limerick… 2-11
Cian McBride, Jordan Morris and Billy Hogan all played leading roles as the first named duo saw their Sigerson Cup journey extended in this lively encounter in Grangegorman tonight (Tuesday).
McBride and Kildare’s Sean Hanafin dominated the midfield exchanges and, with Colm Basquel, Morris and Monaghan’s Sean Jones seemingly working on telepathy, the home side lead by 0-09 to 1-05.
For a long period in the second half, it appeared that those who were once DIT maintained a winning looking grip on proceedings. Especially with Morris, Dublin’s Basquel and Sean Jones of Monaghan buzzing in attack. To the extent that when Jones and Jack Lundy (penalty) both had Billy Hogan emptying his net, that appeared to be that.
However, then the Longwood clubman channelled his inner Status Quo and became the wanderer, playing his part in the new – and exciting – 12 v. 11 attacking formation.

It’s most likely the Limerick college just threw off the shackles at that stage and they must have regretted not doing so earlier. Because, to be fair to them, they did come roaring back into contention via the completion of a brace of Sean McDonnell goals and a flurry of points from Cian McHale, Frank Irwin and Cian O’Grady sparked thoughts of the most unlikely of turnarounds.
Any such inclinations were quenched however by late scores from the impressive Joe Prendergast, Basquel and Morris. Whereupon the final whistle was greeted with much whoopery from the very decent ‘home’ following.

From a Meath perspective, with a selfish ‘business’ head on, Billy Hogan is one less player to have to worry about while, though both in the wars at different stages, Cian and Jordan appear to have come through unscathed.
