Two newcomers as Royals hit the ‘summer’ road

Before getting into the meat of matters here (sure there could be a tarrif on even talking about that now) can I just say that it’s a relief to be talking about football matters and a football match after what has been an extremely tough week.

Made so by entities seemingly determined  to make their own profile the story rather than the bigger picture. Every picture tells its own story though and tomorrow (Sunday) the most important tale of all – the present and future of Meath football – begins a new chapter.

That being so, Robbie Brennan has announced his starting 15 and matchday panel for tomorrow’s Leinster SFC opener against a Carlow side who themselves haven’t exactly had a build up in cruise control.

Conor Duke will make his first championship appearance

On the Meath side, Sean Rafferty at full back and Conor Duke in the half forward line play championship football for the first time. Elsewhere, Donal Keogan will anchor the defence while Bryan Menton will make a 40th Championship appearance, Sean Brennan returns to the panel as cover for Billy Hogan, whose brother Harry makes way on the bench.
