Defeated All Ireland SFC finalists Meath’s preparations for the 2026 Ladies Football season has been tossed into turmoil, perhaps before they had even begun with news breaking tonight (Friday) that manager Shane McCormack and Physical Trainer Tony Reilly have departed their roles with immediate effect.
That said, given the fact that they did make it all the way to the final with a team very much in transition, hopes would have been high of them making a bold showing at getting back there again in 2026.
The Royals’ progression to the Brendan Martin Cup final at the beginning of the month was, in fairness, as much of a shock to those of us in the county as it was to anybody outside it.
As has unfortunately always seemed to be the case with Meath GAA though, it seems to yet another case of one step forward, numerous backwards.
