Just when it appeared the good ship Old Trafford was back smooth sailing, Manchester United appear destined for choppy waters once again with the sensational news that Ruben Amorim has been sacked by the power brokers at the Red Devils.

His defenestration comes with United currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table, a point behind Liverpool ahead of them and with the third round FA Cup tie against Brighton on the horizon.
In the more immediate future, Darren Fletcher will take charge of United for Wednesday’s fixture against Burnley. Where he will have the opportunity to select one or both of his sons.
