Emma Duggan will Captain the Meath seniors for the first time when Wayne Freeman’s tenure begins when the Royal County ladies take on familiar foes Galway in the first round of the Lidl Ladies National League at Summerhill on Sunday afternoon.
Duggan will lead the locals out in her role as joint Vice Captain – custodian Robyn Murray being the other – but, though skipper Niamh Gallogly is a notable absentee, Freeman’s forces are boosted by the return of Olivia Gore and Megan Thynne and Rachel Casserly.

There’s also an interesting switch positionally with Katie Bermingham switching from her midfield role in last season’s All Ireland SFC Final to wing back.
The Dunboyne clubwoman is joined on the half back line by compatriot Sarah Wall, despite the latter being due to depart these shores and join older sister Vikki in the rear end of the world.
MEATH – R. Murray; A. Sheridan, M. K. Lynch, O. Gore; O. Smith, S. Wall, K. Bermingham; O. Sheehy, L. Woods; M. Thynne, C. Smyth, M. Farelly; E. Duggan (Capt.), R. Casserly, M. Byrne.
