Five NHL Newcomers For Afternoon With The Exiles

Manager Johnny Greville has handed out five National Hurling League debuts among the Meath ensemble revealed for Saturday’s afternoon tea (12.30pm) appointment with London in St Loman’s Park, Trim.

The handful of newcomers are Gavin King in goal, brothers Conor Leavy and Mark Leavy, Darragh Heffernan and Eoin Donegan. All of whom took their chances when presented with them in the recent Kehoe Cup.

Daire Shine will Captain Meath from full back

The one noticeable thing about the matchday panel is who is not there, rather than who is. Put simply, the fact that three-in-a-row chasing county champions Ratoath have nobody in the 26. There’s never smoke without fire, and that pot may very well be worth a watch as it bubbles.

MEATH – Gavin King (Na Fianna, Dublin); Conor Leavy (Dunderry), Daire Shine (Kilskyre/Moylagh, Capt.), Jarlath Ennis (Rathmolyon); Darragh Heffernan (Trim), Simon Ennis (Rathmolyon), Seanie Geraghty (Kilskyre/Moylagh); Lorcan Byrne (Kilmessan), Tom Shine (Kilskyre/Moylagh); Damien Healy (Longwood), Joey Cole (Trim), Eoin Donegan (Wolfe Tones); Mark Leavy (Dunderry), Mikey Cole (Trim), Darren O’Higgins (Kilskryre/Moylagh).

SUBS – Philip O’Brien (St Patrick’s), Tony Healy (Longwood), Cathal Barron (Dunderry), Craig Gilsenan (Kiltale), Fergal Flynn (Na Fianna), Jack Walsh (Navan O’Mahonys), Lorcan O’Connor (Kilmessan), Noah Conroy (Kilmessan), Rory Fagan (Na Fianna), Sean Doyle (Kilmessan), Tom Condon (Navan O’Mahonys)
