It doesn’t seem all that long ago since Ronan Ryan lifted the Keegan Cup for Dave Clare’s superb Summerhill side. Yet on Monday night last at Meath GAA headquarters in Dunganny the draws for this year’s incarnation – as well as the other football championships – took place.
As a result of which, the undoubted main talking point was the fact that Clare’s champions will once again collide with his native Dunboyne.
If that wasn’t intriguing enough, also in the group are the black and amber’s fellow parishoners, Kilbride.
The green and red making their first appearance back in Meath football’s premier competition in over a half century.
Making up the quartet are Meath football’s great survivors, Rathkenny, who, with Finn Moore, the O’Hare brothers, Donal Keogan, Keith and David Curtis and Luke Kealy in their ranks warrant the utmost respect.
