Frustration offset by the prospect of happiness

What it will be admitted is a small degree of frustration at Meath not being able to, or perhaps not wanting to gamble on giving some new blood a run out during the National Football League campaign just now drawing to a close, is offset to a very large degree by the fact that we are once again within touching distance of having another happy day on the biggest stage of all.

Put simply, Robbie Brennan and his fellow mentors have, wholly understandably, opted to leave well enough alone ahead of Sunday’s National Football League Final against Cork at Croke Park.

Sean Brennan has made a massive contribution to Meath’s advancement to the National League Final.

That means Cian McBride – having put in a stellar display last week against Offaly – will once again line out at wing forward with Ruairi Kinsella and Jack O’Connor completing the half forward line. Conor Grey is once again listed among the subs as the Royal County aim to garner their first silverware at senior level in Croker since the Tailteann Cup success of 2023.

MEATH – S. Brennan; S. Lavin, S. Rafferty, B. O’Halloran; D. Keogan, S. Coffey, C. Caulfield; B. Menton, J. Flynn; J. O’Connor, R. Kinsella, C. McBride; J. Morris, E. Frayne (Capt.), A. Lynch.

SUBS – B. Hogan, K. Smyth, R. Ryan, C. Hickey, C. Grey, C. O’Connor, O. Martin, J. Conlon, J. Scully, C. Duke, K. Curtis.
