Jones return a needed lift for club and county

St Peter’s, Dunboyne…2-11
Moynalvey…2-11

On a weekend when reasons for cheer were as scarce for devotees of Meath football as hen’s teeth, the return to action of Ronan Jones as a second half sub was a telling boost for Dunboyne as they maintained their recent run of momentum in the FL Div. 1 when coming from seven points adrift to share the spoils with the maroon and white on Saturday evening.

Ronan Jones played his first bit of football since the Dublin match last year when coming on as a sub last Saturday evening.

The county man lofted over one mighty two pointer as, despite a goal from his older brother Niall, the home side trailed by 1-04 to 1-05 at the short whistle. Now, even despite Ronan’s return, Moynalvey opened up a seven point lead, which they held until the final ten minutes when a second ‘major, this time defender Mark Furlong doing the needful, was the springboard which took the locals back to parity.
