Mr Jeremiah (Jerry) Russell, father of three time Irish National Hunt champion jockey, Davy, passed away over the weekend. He was 85.
The deceased ran a farm and a garage business in his native Youghal, Co Cork and was an avid supporter of the pony racing, point-to-point and racing under rules scene. All the routes his son also took to a career of stardom.
During which Davy rode Youghal By The Sea, owned and bred by Jerry, to win a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in July 2018.

Jerry Russell was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, a native of Kells, Co Meath, and is survived by his six adult children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends, to whom sympathy is extended.
