MEATH…6-23
WICKLOW…0-05
Another win, another half dozen goals. The potential it was always felt there was within this young bunch of Meath footballers as being so. That’s about as much as you can say about Meath’s Leinster MFC Preliminary QF victory tonight without seeming disingenuous.
The home side actually opened the brigther in Aughrim and accounted for the first two scores in the match.
However, once Cormac McKenna of Wolfe Tones got on the end of a great move involving Liam O’Donoghue and Milo Stafford to put the young Royals 1-04 to 0-03 up, the floodgates opened.

To the tune of the visitors hitting 3-3 without riposte one the run in to half time. Which included Stafford burying a penalty after Tomas Dillon was fouled. Which was part of a hat-trick for the Kilmainhamwood lad but I’m not sure if he got the match ball or not!
The impressive Conn Brennan and the introduced Dara Loughran also netted as Giles’s gang concluded with 11 different marksmen and a ticket to face Offaly next Tuesday.
