Harry hits the net as Dunboyne top the ‘Hill

ALL COUNTY IFC – Round 1

St Peter’s Dunboyne…1-14
Summerhill…0-13

Harry Healy’s first half goal proved that, no matter how much Gaelic football might change and evolve, sometimes the old maxim about goals winning games cannot be disproven. For that’s exactly how it played out in Moynalvey on Sunday morning as Dunboyne’s second string kicked on from being level at half time to get their All County IFC campaign off to the best possible start.

These two sides met at the same stage of the same competition last year – that time in the ‘old’ Pairc Tailteann – and Dunboyne also edged a similarly tight affair. This time, corner forward Healy’s three pointer ensured parity at the halfway point, 1-07 to 0-10, before, boosted by the impact of players such as Jack Doyle, Daragh Nolan and Diarmuid Delaney off the bench, Liam Duggan’s side held on with just a bit to spare.

Daragh Nolan contributed two points when introduced against Summerhill
